The novella has deleted scenes taken from the few key moments of the novel. They’re from Jack’s POV, which was what I wanted at the end of the novel, so getting that here was nice. The novella also featured the legend of the golden raven featuring the two kings aka Jack and August, which I suppose was a sort-of parallel fantasy life that Jack was living. Really enjoy the author’s writing. It kinda reminds me of Maggie Stiefvater, with the mention of black birds and kings how could it not, [...]

This was such a beautiful addition to The Wicker King. I loved reading some scenes from Jack’s POV and really wish there would have been scenes from his POV in the actual book. Reading this now I realise his POV is so important to be able to grasp the full meaning of August’s and Jack’s story, and to be able to fully understand what it is Jack experiences. I’m glad I got to read some of these scenes in the novella, but why not include them in the actual book? This also features a narrati [...]

It was really nice getting to know the legend behind The Wicker King but I wouldn't have minded to read a bit more about the story from Jack's point of view.

I’ve had The Wicker King on my TBR shelf on for a little while but only came across The Legend of the Golden Raven a few days ago. Since it was free to download I jumped on it having yet to read The Wicker King.First off I really love that cover! And I think I’m really going to enjoy Ancrum’s writing, both it (and the main novel by the sounds of it) are dark and twisty reads, something I have been enjoying more of lately.I like the dual story lines, Golden Raven jumps between August and J [...]

Awesome companion to THE WICKER KING This novella is must read for people who read and loved THE WICKER KING. It’s a collection of short scenes that take place throughout the larger novel, except this time from Jack’s point of view. It’s cool to read descriptions of the hallucinations jack is seeing firsthand instead of having it filtered through two povs. Woven throughout the novella is the legend of The Wicker King, which the larger novel is named after. I thought the myth was creative a [...]

After that thought, all at once, like a horrible cacophony of sound, the voice that lived behind his teeth whispered: This is the love of your life. He could never tell him.“You’re the love of my life, you know,” he said bravely.August just looked at him and shrugged. “I know.” I loved getting Jack's pov for some of the scenes, it helped make sense of a lot of things that happened. Andwowdoes he love August. I thought this novella would give me closure, but now I'm just crying over how [...]

I liked that we got to see some scenes from Jack’s POV and it was interesting to see the realm the way Jack saw it. I wish it maybe would have focused more on Jack and August’s relationship, but I did enjoy it!

Was O.K.I felt pretty unattached to Jack, like I did in The Wicker King.I didnt like the romance thing between August and Jack. I just didnt get to experience there chemistry outside of there wacko magical world drean thing, so maybe thats why I feel it shouldn't be there.Hum.
