Given that author Sandi Wallace has so far perfectly scratched my crime loving sweet spot with her first two novels I had concerns on whether she could perform the same trick with a collection of short stories. But I will say overall my fears were unnecessary as On The Job works superbly as we are taken on a number of cases that range from the light to full-on.There is something here for all crime fiction connoisseurs with break-ins, pranksters, domestic, and even the death of a little girl that [...]

All I can say is brilliant. Sandi Wallace packs as much punch into her short crime stories as she does into her novels. There were chills, thrills and heartbreak in these very accurate and action packed insights into our boys and girls in blue. Her ability to offer her readers a complete reading experience is exceptional and her award winning stories leave you satisfied but wanting more. Sandi has certainly delivered another great read with this latest offering.

Thank you Sandi Wallace and for the opportunity to read On The Job. I found it to be a really easy read, with a number of short stories about the lives of police on the job. Each story was unique and interesting and ranged from amusing to disquieting. Wallace handled well situations where assumptions were made that turned out to be wrong (even though the criminal was caught), the crazy situations that police officers can find themselves in, the trauma they experience with accident victims and h [...]

A great read with a series of original plots, well written in Sandi Wallace's distinctive rural style. In On The Job Sandi humanizes our hard working police force and brings her characters to life in a variety of situations. The introductory verses added a pleasant touch.

Sandi Wallace’s “On the Job” is a collection of poems and short stories based upon life within the police force in Australia. Wallace has a talent for creating characters with various motives, ambitions and lifestyles. This is reflected within the multiple view points presented, as well as plots and settings. The stories are varied: from country stations manned by one woman, to a fast paced city thriller where multiple police officers hunt for a missing girl. The stand out story, for me, w [...]
