Playing with monsters left me very, very satisfied.***4.5 Stars***I think I can safely say after reading Playing with Monster that I’m attracted to monsters. Saying that, it could be more that I’m attracted to Amelia Hutchins’s monsters. I know they’re evil, kill willy nilly and shed blood left, right and centre, but deep down these monsters just want someone to love them. Oh, they’d never admit it, fight tooth and nail against it and make the special woman in their life work bloody ha [...]

Review posted: 29.06.2016“You should have stayed hidden, sweet sister, for monsters are everywhere.”I like the book. I didn't love it. Hell, I was even a bit disappointed. The story was slow, yet it's worth reading. I liked, really liked Magdalena (strange name, or what?), and I could totally picture her and Cyn becoming best friends. My problem however, was with Lucian. I found him hot and sexy and wellrmal? I didn't get that feeling of him being powerful, nor so dangerous as I know he is f [...]

4 "clusterfuck of magic" starsThe past has a way of repeating itself. A new game is beginning.See on this cover,I see him LUCIAN the one you DON'T wish to cross path with, the embodiment of dark magic beyond recon, the dark you DON't wish ever to be encompassed with, the dark you turn all the lights to chase away, but it's all in vain, cause he'll come for you from within, he'll find your darkness and awake it.Most thought I was Lucifer's right-hand man, but i was so fucking much more.MagdalenaS [...]

5 stars!!! I absolutely FLoved it!! Been a while since I've handed out a 5 star review 5 months to be honest. And I've read probably upwards of 60 books since then. I admit it, I'm stingy with my 5 star ratings. But this book, it had everything I was looking for! Angst oh, it had the ANGST in spades! Hot sexy times ooh, sound the alarm on that front too! A complete, jerkface asshole and a sassy, independent young woman and how theyum, clash, yeah, that's the right word. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. [...]

***DNF at 56%***So yes I am going to review yet another book I didn't finish. Don't like that? I don't care. It's my review and I'll whine if I want to. I wanted to love this book. I had such high expectations. I think this is perhaps where I went wrong. I was expecting it to be to the same standards as the Fae Chronicles but it just wasn't. It felt like the author was just trying to recreate the same character types but they came across as poor imitations. Lucian was just no match for Ryder. I [...]

This book was very different than what I expected. I can honestly say when I first started the book I was not feeling Lucian and Lena. I remember Lucian from A.Hutchins' other books, but I didn't have an opinion on him. With this book I sure did. He is an a-hole and a supreme douche. A menthol eucalyptus douche - if you can imagine something so painful.I felt as if Lena's will and purpose wasn't strong enough. She struck as being pretty self-assured and strong in character, but as soon as she me [...]

4.5 Fire to my Ice, Sun to my Moon Stars Magdalena "Lena" Fitzgerald decided to take a break a 3 year break from her coven after finding her fiance in bed with another woman, burying her older brother, and her father leaving her family when they need him the most. She could no longer figure out who she was or what she wanted. So she decided to leave and make her own life. But when she gets called back home from the elders for the Awakening of witches, she has to show her face to those she left a [...]

**** 4.5 stars****Well I'm happy to say this one was much better than the last book. The story was really good!I loved the story and I couldn't put this one down, I will admit that there were some moments in the beginning that it dragged a little but it didn't bother me more than that. The only thing that bothered me was the sex, it took forever for Lucian and Lena to do it!!The the sexual tension between Lucian and Lena was off the charts, so I just wanted them to do it already!I guess Amelia li [...]

AND THE LITTLE TEASER SHE GAVE US!!!!!The last woman I kissed was dead, her picture hung above my mantle. A reminder of the fucking monster I’d become. I’m more than she could handle. I fuck like I fight, dirty, ruthless and without a single ounce of mercy.AH, can we just take a moment to appreciate those words!!!!if u havent already go like her fb page! she gives [...]

This book far exceeded my expectations. I really enjoy Amelia Hutchins' stories as she does a great job of mixing paranormal/fantasy with erotica. I think this is my favorite book of hers to date though because there was the perfect balance of sex and story. Her storytelling is so original and enthralling that sometimes I find myself saying, 'No more sex! I want to know what happens next!' I was super sick yesterday but had been so eager to read this book that I just powered through the nausea b [...]

Reading Playing With Monsters was like being on the “WTF” rollercoaster ride from hell. Seriously, I spent this entire book confused, disoriented, and feeling like the bottom was constantly dropping out from under me. The book starts out with a freaky deaky opening scene from the past. It was full of betrayal ending in death but not before both characters laid some seriously bad curses on one another setting up a cycle of reincarnated lifetimes of bad juju between the two. Unfortunately, eve [...]

Alright, so i hate to ever admit when this happens but as of lately, i've been in a ginormous book funk! Nothing has been grabbing my attention and captivating me. I would read book synopsis' looking for something new and all i would think is same old, same old. Everything just seemed recycled and resold. It may or may not be the case and it's just simply me. Maybe i've out read everything because i'm such an passionate reader obsessed with reading anything and everything! Anyways, rather than g [...]

Confusing and not this authors bestUnfortunately, I was so excited for this book as it seemed that it would be interesting and connected enough to the fae chronicles that I would love it. Sigh.t so much. It seems this author has decided to get too elaborate and secretive in her story telling. And not in the good way. Just in the annoying and confusing way. This book IS loosely connected to the fae chronicles. We were introduced to Lucian in yet another spin off book from the fae chroniclesA Demo [...]

I was actually looking for a good new read in 2016 and this book by Amelia Hutchins was one of the suggestion and I was glad I chose it. Yep, I read this in 3 days, day and night.I love Magdalena, the female hero here, she's cute and feisty but she does not overdo it and that is what charmed me to her. She's brave and strong but she's fragile when it comes to the male hero. Now the male hero, Lucian Blackstone? GODLY MAGNIFICENT ASSHOLE and I LOVE HIM! He'd just made it to my book boyfriend/husba [...]

It's weird, the author precautions readers on her character's flaws. Then go on to saying, we all have different preferences and she (the author) is only human, hence don't expect perfections from her writing. LOL(view spoiler)[Ok, now my reasons for not finishing and wishing I'd put off reading till the ending is in sight. At 60%, I still had no idea where the plot is taking us. Lucian is looking for his mate so he could kill her in every reincarnation before she could betray/curse him again?? [...]

I must say I'm thoroughly impressed with Amelia Hutchins writing and storytelling I have to give her her props.at she truly has a talent for writing PNR.As I have been reading the The Fae Chronicles series that this book was a spin off of I thought maybe she would have lost her mojo and this spin off series wouldn't be as good but I was so damn wrong in this assumption. She made this book connect with Ryder and Syn story of the Fae Chronicles series flow with ease. At first I was a little put ou [...]

Well this was amazing. Amazing enough to make me keep reading until I finished it in the wee hours of the morn. This starts off with our main lady Lena rolling back into witchy town after a couple of years in retreat from some seriously bad luck. And who should she run into but our delicious Lucian! Yays! I honestly don't know if I loved or hated this relationship. Throughout the whole book I flipped back and forth. But I do know that I am thoroughly invested in this relationship! There were jus [...]

This book was effing AMAZING.The haunting of the past and their impact in the present make up the story of Lucian, the demon we know from the Fey chronicles, and Magdalena, our strong heroine who's a witch.Starting with an ancient curse between star crossed lovers, we are introduced to Lucian, who is the evil darklord, and a master manipulator(Hey Ryder, you have serious competition). The object of [...]

I don’t know how I feel about this one. I went from being thoroughly confused, to meh, to this is hawt to poor Lucian. I feel like zero questions were answered. I’m actually still confused. But I know that I like Lucian. Do I love him? Not yet, I feel like I don’t know enough about him yet. I don’t know enough about any of the characters. I’m just confused… When I 1st started the Fae Chronicles, I wasn’t crazy about it. But it ended up being one of my favorite series. And I fell he [...]

Loved it! First let me say that the "warning" at the first of the book, is AWESOME! The warning alone should have you salavatiing to get the story started, if not, go back to your boring classic snooze-fest love stories. I particularly loved the last few lines of the dedication that were addressed to her daughtericeless! Playing with Monsters did not disappoint. If you are a fan of The Fae Chronicles, then you will love this book. Amelia has a real talent for creating "kick-ass" characters. I im [...]

Freaking Awesome!Once again I am caught up in the magic and mystery of your writing. Lucien and Lena are so hot together and I really don't like that he had to do what he did. Amelia Hutchins books always leave wanting more, she's the only author I stalk for new books. I love her writing style and even though her books are 400pages, they don't seem long enough.Playing with monsters is another great book and it made me so happy to see the fae chronicles characters make an appearance. Can't wait for the next book
