      When I set out to read Celtic Threads: A Journey in Cape Breton Crafts, I imagined that it's focus would be fairly tight. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the authors not only focussed on a variety of Island crafts, but that they also provided extensive background information that would provide context to anyone who was unfamiliar with Cape Breton history or customs. Celtic Threads taught me a great deal about the history of craft on Cape Breton Island, and I particularly enjoyed the atte [...]

      I enjoyed reading the history of Cape Breton handcrafts since that is where my Grandma is from. The book, however, was badly edited and very repetitive in places. There's a strong emphasis on the Scottish heritage with only slight mention of the Acadians. I still found it very interesting and I'm looking forward to reading more about this in the future.
