I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.Since I like the genre and I was able to finish the book, I'll give it two stars, but honestly, I wouldn't read a sequel and I couldn't recommend this book to others.I am, in general, a huge fan of the "end of the world" and "zombie apocalypse" genres and this book definitely fit both of these. However, this book was not great. The characters were not well developed and weren't believable. For example, in reality, when fighting (and scar [...]

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The book takes off right from the start, with the main protagonist and heroine, Emma, whose sister is dying in the hospital. Said sister is pronounced and Emma, confused and in shock, finds herself suddenly and horribly running for her life. All thanks to her sister miraculously waking from the dead and biting a nurse.Emma bumps into a young doctor named Nathan, who is understandably slow to believe that Emma's sister could possibly [...]

The first urban warrior to be featured is Emma Taylor, the zombie slaying survivor of an apocalypse started when her sister becomes patient zero after a mysterious bite on a family camping trip. The Last Alive is a very fast paced novel. From the first page it takes off and there are no lulls or pauses. I really enjoyed this book. I love Emma and Nathan. All the characters seemed real and believable. Especially Emma. No one is ever always brave or always smart or always serious and sometimes in desperate situations the only way to deal with it is with humor. I personally would have liked to know more about Becca and Meaghan and their families, but I'm hoping there's a sequel to get to know them all better. The story is solid and well written. I read the book in less than a day because I couldn' [...]

Despite the few small mistakes, I found myself actually enjoying the Last Alive. It could stand to be read over by the author once more, but still five stars.
