As Waters Gone By is one of those books that you savor. Every chapter I knew I was getting closer to the end and I wanted to take my time with it. Cynthia Ruchti could do workshops on how to create characters that jump off the pages and land straight in your heart. There was not one character that did not have depth. The kind of depth that makes you relate to them on a very personal level. As Waters Gone By is a book about self-reflection, self-acceptance, family, forgiveness, getting through li [...]

Where to even start? This is one of my favorite books ever! I loved everything about it: the characters, the setting, the story I couldn't think of a better to get into the Christmas mood this year. So if you're looking for your first Christmas book of the year, look no further! You just found it! :)Now with that being said, I need to review this book. Let's be honest, at the beginning of the book I wanted to shake Alexis quite a few times. She was just so negative and gloomy and focused on her T [...]

When you start a Cynthia Ruchti book you just know it's going to be a winner! Having her boyriend of 10 months ask her to marry him is a dream come true for Katie. There is just one problem, she can't marry Micah with all the debt she is carrying because she doesn't want to burden him with it. They are already at his grandparents house when he proposes in front of everyone and she says, no.This does not deter him or the family from being kind to her and treating her as one of their own. Things c [...]

I loved this Christmas tale! Alexis, a designer, has her plan: restore an aging widow’s home for a slot at a home-improvement reality show with a Christmas theme. When she arrives in tiny Algoma, things instantly begin to go wrong, starting with the videographer she was supposed to use. There’s some romance in the book, but I felt it takes a second place to the heart-felt story of getting Elsie’s place restored and finding out how to pry open Elsie’s scarred heart, which is just the way [...]

I wish I could give this book 10 stars! This book will leave you pondering the fragility of life. There is such an important message here. Do not wait until it's too late to tell the one's you love that you love them and show them it as well, daily. You never know what tomorrow may bring, spend time with your loved ones, talk, really talk and tell them what's on your heart.Such a beautiful story I know this will be an eye opener for a lot of people. I recommend this to everyone!Publish date Apri [...]

4.5 starsThis was a wonderful story for Christmas! If you have ever wanted to be dumped in the middle of a small-town family Christmas, this one is a poster child for the best type. I loved the family, the vibrant individual personalities. The way they treated Katie was revolutionary to her; so was the way they treated each other. You can almost feel Katie's heart warming and opening up under their kind influence.

As some of you know, I go to great lengths to avoid spoilers. With an author's writing style I already enjoy, I seldom read book summaries nor reviews in advance of reading the novel. With A Fragile Hope, I love the cover and had previously read a Christmas novella by the author so requested a Net Galley copy of the novel with having zero idea of what the book was about. Rather quickly I found myself on an amazing emotional journey. Just as I don't like to read spoilers, I am careful not to prov [...]

This is a beautifully written story that flows smoothly from chapter to chapter. Lucy, the main character, has some disappointments that she just can't seem to recover from. She becomes depressed and is very negative. Her family tries to encourage her but she continues to struggle until she seeks out counseling. The sessions with her counselor were great to read. Wow! I really can't stress enough how well written this book is. It was such a pleasure to read. I loved all of the characters. I coul [...]

A heartwarming tale set along the beautiful shore of Lake Michigan in the fall, a perfect place for a holiday story! My heart was definitely full and satisfied after reading this lovely novella.Fans of home restoration shows will really enjoy this, as the main characters come together to complete a house project in time for a Christmas special, hoping to win a competition. The stakes are high, especially for Alexis, the designer who hopes to succeed and further her fledgling career. Nothing seem [...]

This book deserves five stars for so deeply addressing the subject of marital betrayal while sprinkling in enough hope to keep me from falling into the despair the characters felt. I thought the way Cynthia opened each chapter with a greeting card sentiment was genius, and definitely shed some light between hard pieces of the story. (The greeting card sentiment was a perfect fit, since the wife in the story wrote and crafted cards for a living.) Aside from being a compelling story about characte [...]

my endorsement of this gorgeous book: "With her exquisitely engaging style, each word in perfect pitch, Cynthia Ruchti creates a beautiful story of healing and humor and hope. A story for the riffed teacher, for the frustrated wife, for the mother of adult children. A story for everyone whose life failed to proceed according to plan. Vivid characters, wry wit, and gentle truth held me captive from the first page to the last. This is a book that will linger in my heart for a long time!"Full revie [...]

I just read the last page and closed the book with a deep, contented sigh. Emmalyn’s tender story transported me like no other story has in a very long time. I’ve read everything Cynthia Ruchti has written and declare this novel her best ever. Her words are simply exquisite!

Before I gush about how much I love this latest book from Cynthia Ruchti (because I do and so I shall), I have to first mention GABE. Oh my heart. My book boyfriend collection has a new addition. Gabe Langley is sweet and hilarious and charming in that boyish sort of way but boy does some great wisdom come out when he decides to be serious. From their meet-cute to their daily interactions to the moment when romance becomes more than a possibility, Gabe and Alexis need each other (even when Alexi [...]

At a period in my life when I find myself perhaps oversensitive to noise, my review copy of Cynthia Ruchti's "Song of Silence" arrived at the perfect time. While the story itself was enjoyable, it became more personal to me. My own circumstances could not be more different than Lucy's but there were lessons within the pages for me to meditate upon. I was especially blessed by all the scripture references and quotations scattered throughout the story that mention silence in one form or another.Lu [...]

by Andrea Renee CoxWhen I started reading A Fragile Hope, I wasn't sure what to expect. Several chapters in, I was still unsure what was to come, but I saw glimpses of the heart-wrenching tale that was to commence. By the time I finished the last page, I was overwhelmed with varying emotions: devastation, hope, joy, a sense of refreshing, and a keen dose of peace that only comes with forgiveness. There are so many things I'd like to tell you about this book, but each one would give too many thing [...]

This story focuses on family, traditions, savoring simple moments and celebrating the large moments and most of all, celebrating the true meaning of Christmas. At first I felt the writing was sort of choppy and I did't feel very connected to the characters, but the story slowly took form and I found it very enjoyable.

"Impossible. So that meant God had an idea when Alexis didn't."When interior designer Alexis Blake won the opportunity to enter an eight week long "Restoring Christmas" home redesign contest, she was full of possibilities. . . . until, she met her stand-in videographer and the stubborn, prickly homeowner. Elsie wanted change without changing, and Gabe Langley's effervescent positivity was mildly annoying and surprisingly adorable. After a series of unfortunate events, Gabe asks Alexis the millio [...]

I am a tough sell when it comes to Christian fiction. When I was young and full of whimsical dreams about what the world looked like, I gobbled up Christian romance like it was going out of style. Then I grew up and realized that life is not so cut and dried, fairy tales don’t always end happy ever after, and faith CAN’T explain away all the hurts and pains in this world. It CAN offer a balm for a wounded soul, hope that glows in the midst of the darkest nights, and love to cover a multitude [...]

SONG OF SILENCE was a story that I connected with on so many levels. It was heartfelt, humorous, had lovable characters, had some down-to-earth realistic romance, a little heartbreak, and so many sweet moments of both discovery and beauty in the small things. If you've enjoyed Ruchti's other books or enjoy Christian Fiction, this is definitely a book to pick up!These characters. As I said, I could relate. Lucy is stuck. She's stuck because she felt her dream was just completely pulled away and s [...]

I know no review I will ever write will do them justice. Her latest, A Fragile Hope, is no exception. To be honest, the synopsis doesn't give much detail about the plot and the story surprised me a bit. But I was glad I didn't know what it really was about from the start. I really didn't know what was going to happen or how it would all unfold. The characters are rea [...]

AN ENDLESS CHRISTMAS was full of the spirit of the holiday, family, a roller-coaster of emotion, love, forgiveness, inspirational moments, and a very sweet romance. I love this author's lyrical writing style!
