      Not bad. Did think that the two sleuths though were not really very bright most of the time.

      l am a big fan of Adrian Magson's later writing so I hunted out these earlier novels about investigative reporter Riley Gavin and ex-military policeman Frank Palmer. In this initial outing we are introduced to the characters in an interesting story from the South of England to Southern Spain. I liked the common touch from simple descriptions to genuine dialogue with real tension as the body count increases. Basic story / plot involves old fashioned gangsters and the desire to expand their territ [...]

      I have been having a great time discovering the author’s works, really enjoyed the Harry Tate series and the Watchman series. This was my introduction to the first in the Riley and Palmer series, written over ten years ago. Riley is a tough female investigative reporter and Palmer is brought in to assist her and back her up. He’s ex-military police so he knows both how to investigate and to work the streets.
